Neuromuscular training
Strengthening mind & body
What is neuromuscular training?
Neuromuscular training refers to a form of rehabilitative exercises that focuses on strengthening the connection between the brain and the muscles rather than focusing on the muscles themselves.

Why is this important?

-
The brain controls the muscles
Having a stronger connection between the nervous and muscular systems allows for greater motor neuron activation, thus increasing muscular strength and function without the added need of muscle hypertrophy, which can cause muscular imbalances, postural distortions due to misaligned joints, and limited range of motion

-
focusing solely on individual muscle strength can create a disconnection within kinetic chains
muscles are not individual parts, but a unified system.
they are meant to work together as a team to perform varying multi-planar movements, but isolating muscles for strength training can have a negative effect on the kinetic chains by creating stronger neural pathways to the over-trained muscles, thus weakening the surrounding tissues and altering biomechanics
